There is a direct relationship between how we breathe and our physical and psychological health. The rate, rhythm, ratio, and location of your breath all play a role in your physical and psychological health.
In this workshop we will explore a range of practices to strengthen the muscles of breathing, understand the mechanics of breathing and experience the immediate effects of relaxation and calm. Link breathing with movement and end the workshop with a nourishing yoga Nidra (sleep yoga). Leave feeling relaxed and restored.

About the Yoga Course: The course combines specific yoga therapy techniques to;
Enhance the functioning of the nervous system to improve well-being
Increases self-awareness through the practice of mindfulness
Improves emotional regulation & resilience
Reduce habitual patterns of though and behaviour
Both mindfulness and therapeutic yoga are well known to help improve stress, anxiety and depression. All sessions are taught in a compassionate and safe setting.
Course Structure: We meet once a week for two hours over an 8-week period. During each session you will learn how the mind, body and brain work together from a scientific perspective and explore how to use practices that will promote wellbeing. Sessions include a 1 hour 10 minutes yoga practice, breath work, additional mind-body activities and a group discussion. During the first two weeks of the course we focus on regulating breath, as a mode to alter the functioning of your nervous system, so that you can manage stress with greater ease.From weeks 3 – 5 we concentrate on the relationship between body and mood and in weeks 6 – 8 we focus specifically on the mind. To support your practice you are given a comprehensive manual and a CD or download with eight tracks, which coincide with each week of the course.
Ideal for: No previous yoga experience required - suitable for anyone with anxiety, depression or stress.

About the Yoga Course: This 6 week beginners course - level 1- provides an introduction to the practices of Hatha / Vinyasa Yoga. We will explore together the foundations of a safe & embodied yoga practice, alongside understanding how it can support our Health & Wellbeing in modern day life. A small group - max 8 people. What is yoga?
Theory and Philosophy
We will explore how our bodies move and link this to our breath. Discover the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaska) breaking down each asana (posture) within it and looking at the steps/stages (Kramas) to achieve each posture. Combined with breathing practices & the introduction of the Yogic Philosophies of Patanjali’s sutras. Ending each session with relaxation - an important part of staying in balance! Ideal for: This course is for those who are complete beginners, coming back after injury / illness or want a refresh. All levels of experience welcome.
